Meet the Board of Directors

Dr. Katherine Fitting, Chairman

Katherine Fitting has lived in Park County full-time since 2004 but has been coming to the Fairplay area for recreation since childhood. She is a physician and ran the clinic in Fairplay for 10 years.

She and her husband, Dale, have owned and operated The Hand Hotel, the Silver Scoop Creamery, and The Old Red Barn in Fairplay since 1995. The Fitting household also includes two dogs and eight rescued burros.

Charles Schultz, Secretary/Treasurer

In 1999, Charlie retired after 36 years in general construction management and came to the Fairplay area to build a home for himself and his wife Carolyn. Since moving to South Park, Charlie has been involved in management of various building projects including the medical building in Fairplay.

In his free time, Charlie enjoys skiing, hiking, cutting wood for the winter, climbing at least one fourteener each summer, and learning to fly fish. Charlie believes that two key components to a thriving community are good schools and adequate health care access. Therefore, Charlie is committed to bringing healthcare to South Park by serving as a board member for the South Park Health Service District.

Kylie Pontius, Board Member

Kylie moved to Fairplay with her husband in July 2020. Serving on the South Park Health Service District Board since August 2021, Kylie is passionate about ensuring quality health care access in our rural area. Our website was designed and is maintained by Kylie.

With a background in Music Education and small business, Kylie brings a diverse set of skills to the district; she is a singer, pianist, and songwriter, as well as a web designer and graphic designer. Her hobbies include hiking, biking, gardening, playing video games, and spending quality time with her golden retrievers.

Carol Talbert, Board Member

Carol feels that one should not just live in a community, but that they should contribute to the community; having medical services improves the livability of the community and nearby areas.

Carol is happy to serve as a Board member of the South Park Health Service District. She volunteers at the local food bank and has a degree in Fine Arts with Certification to teach grades K-12.

Lee Phillips, Board Member

Lee built his home in Park County in 1995 and has lived here full-time since 2005. He served as the Park County Attorney, Alma Town Attorney, Fairplay Town Attorney, and General Counsel for the SPHS District until his retirement from active law practice in 2018.

Lee enjoys traveling with his wife, Robin, fly fishing, bird hunting, dog training, spending time with his grandkids, and living in Park County.
